ABOUT THE SHOW:

With an infectiously unforgettable score from four-time Grammy winner, three-time Oscar winner and musical theatre giant, Stephen Schwartz, Pippin is the story of one young man’s journey to be extraordinary.

PRODUCTION NOTE: For this production of Pippin, we are leaning away from the circus-inspired concept of the 2013 Broadway revival which has subsequently become popularized over the last twelve years. Instead, this iteration of the show will explore the traditions of Vaudeville, with each principle character being associated with their own unique act. For more information about these acts, please read the Character Breakdown below.

CONTENT ADVISORY: This show involves some mature language and onstage intimacy. We recommend all performers look into the content to ensure they are comfortable with it before signing up to audition.

WHAT TO EXPECT:

  • Please prepare a short selection (no more than 1 minute) of a musical theatre song in the style of the show. Please bring a backing track to perform with. A speaker will be provided.
  • Performers will be seen one at a time during their scheduled audition group. We recommend arriving ten minutes prior to your scheduled group in order to check in with Stage Management.
  • After your vocal audition, you will be asked to do a cold-reading from the script.
  • Once all auditioning performers in a time block have completed their vocal auditions and cold reads, there will be a group dance call. Please come dressed to move.

All audition sides and the dance call can be reviewed here so that performers can be fully prepared coming into the audition. We do not expect performers to be off-book for their readings, but please come having already learned the dance call.

If you cannot attend the auditions in person, audition slots are full when you attempt to sign up, or if you have any other questions, please contact our director Sean Newman at newmanesean@gmail.com to arrange a video audition.
